Taking exams from a remote location is easy with ProctorU! In a simple, three-step process, your live proctor will make sure you are ready and help you begin testing. All you need is a webcam with a microphone and a reliable, high-speed internet connection.

Charges to the Student

There are no charges to NWF State College students taking proctored exams through ProctorU other than those listed below:

  • Reservations made less than 72 hours of an exam are subject to a $5 late registration fee (to be paid by the student).
  • Test-takers can also schedule an exam on demand less than an hour in advance by using ProctorU's convenient "Take it Now " feature. This premier feature is designed to give test-takers added convenience and costs an additional $8.75 (to be paid by the student).

Respondus Lockdown Browser/Monitor

Securing the D2L Test Environment -  Respondus LockDown Browser (RLB) is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment within D2L Brightspace. When students use Respondus LockDown Browser they are unable to print, copy, go to another URL, or access other applications. When an assessment is started at uses Respondus Lockdown Browser, students are locked into that environment until they submit the quiz/test for grading.

NWFSC Testing Center

As with all aspects of online teaching, instructors allow reasonable flexible accommodating for testing.

  • Proctored exams are not required by NWFSC, but may be held at the discretion of the instructor. If a faculty member decides to hold a proctored midterm or final, it will be held on the dates indicated on the Academic Calendar. The start times for the exams should be as follows:
    Friday: 4:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m., or 8:00 p.m.
    Saturday: 8:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 12:00 a.m., or 2:00 p.m.
  • Arrangements for classroom reservations are handled by the individual instructor. Please contact Samantha Hollis, Curriculum and Instructional Specialist, at to schedule a room.
  • Students who are not able to come to campus for a midterm or final may use either the college‚Äôs online proctoring service and/or may obtain a proctor at a location convenient to them, depending on the instructor policies.
  • Instructors may use Respondus Lockdown Browser and Respondus Monitor for secure testing. Students may need to install software on a local computer before beginning a test. Several NWF State College labs are equipped with Respondus options. Check your location.

RegisterBlast for Proctoring Exams
RegisterBlast is a website console currently utilized by the Niceville Testing Center. Faculty members will now utilize this console to submit exams to the Testing Center. In order to create a secure account, faculty members will need to register at RegisterBlast or go to Faculty members will be able to upload exams, any corresponding documents, and class rosters. All information provided to the student in paper form will be shredded prior to the student leaving the Testing Center. For faculty providing online and computer-based exams, they will utilize RegisterBlast to enter the exam information, including the password for proctor access. 

For faculty members returning to RegisterBlast to upload documents, return to your RegisterBlast account.  It will be helpful to bookmark this information for future visits.

Proctor Forms
Instructors at each campus and center will now complete proctor forms through the RegisterBlast website. Exams and rosters are to be uploaded to this website. Test Administrators at each location will have access to your exam information. Instructors will be able to run reports to identify students who have already registered and/or completed the designated exam.

Proctored Exam Information for Students
Students must make an appointment at least 24 hours in advance of taking a proctored exam. Students completing exams at the Niceville Testing Center should be referred to RegisterBlast by visiting the Testing Center website (; students completing exams at outlying locations should contact their desired location to schedule an appointment.
